About the Disclosure and Barring Service Background

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of the Senior Leadership Team for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Our work is critical in helping to protect children and vulnerable adults through our processing of criminal record checks, and consideration of whether it is appropriate for a person to be placed on, or removed from, the list of individuals who are barred from working with these vulnerable groups.

About the organisation

We provide information to employers and other organisations in England and Wales (and barring information only in Northern Ireland) so that they can make informed recruitment and licensing decisions, especially for employees and volunteers working with vulnerable groups. We also determine whether an individual can take up a relevant post by making decisions about inclusion on a barred list.
