The Procurement Department
The Procurement Department at the University of Kent is about to embark on a programme to transform the existing Procurement function into a best in class operation that is fully aligned with delivering the aims and objectives of the University Plan. This change, driven by the need to deliver greater efficiency and effectiveness across the University, and indeed the wider sector, includes the alignment of resources to best meet those business objectives. To help achieve these efficiencies, you will be required to assist the Head of Procurement to develop an effective Procurement Strategy and delivery plan and deliver against that plan.
You will be responsible for providing a source of expertise for major procurement activity across the University which includes supporting the delivery of a long term Estates Strategy. You will be particularly focused on ensuring value for money is achieved from all expenditure and for making a significant annual contribution towards University-wide savings and efficiency targets.
Act as the procurement lead for all Estates and Commercial Services procurement activity as well as other categories and projects if appropriate
- Have involvement in multi-disciplinary teams both within and outside the Finance Directorate.
- Play a lead role in assisting the Head of Procurement leading the team through a period of transition, ensuring the new vision for the organisation is fully addressed from a procurement perspective.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- MCIPS qualification or relevant equivalent experience
- Degree level education or relevant equivalent experience
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience of procurement with an Estates or Property department or provider within the public or private sector.
