As the Raw Materials Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the proactive and effective end-to-end management of all raw materials supply and commercial requirements across the Group, centralising control and monitoring of all raw materials for the business.

Description

The key duties and responsibilities of the Raw Materials Manager will include:

  • Delivery of raw material cost reduction targets as agreed.
  • Create Raw Materials Strategy & Execution Plans including spend, market & supplier analysis / supplier segmentation. To be reviewed and refreshed annually (except for one-off projects).
  • Achieve strong, collaborative, and sustainable relationships with key stakeholders including the Technical department and suppliers.
  • Manage commercial relationships with the raw material supply base including co-ordination and control of all pricing negotiations, implementing effective systems and processes to ensure this is maintained
  • Review and revise suppliers/locations including new supplier selection .Ensuring effective communication to all stakeholders is maintained throughout.
  • Create added value (performance & savings) annual activity plans that support the attainment of department/business objectives.
  • Ensure that department and individual performance targets are achieved through the maintenance of monthly reports.
  • Assist in reduction of non compliance to specification and KPI's.
  • Identify all opportunities to progressively rationalise and reduce the total number of suppliers to an optimum level.
  • Conduct regular commercial risk assessments for all Raw Material categories.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of Raw Materials databases and information registers, ensuring that key information is maintained and kept up-to-date at all times.
  • Formally plan regular review meetings with end-users, stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring that these take place as planned.

Profile

The successful candidate will have the following experience:

  • Demonstrable raw materials management and procurement experience
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Practical knowledge of S&OP
  • Demonstrated understanding of MRP systems
  • Proven cost and efficiency management
  • Procurement experience in a number of key category areas
  • Internal / external account management skills
  • Drafting and development of performance metrics (SLAs and KPIs).
  • Proven ability in delivering and managing change
  • Market & Supplier analysis
  • Proven experience of developing and managing strong relationships with end-users, senior stakeholders and suppliers
  • Specialist process and/or manufacturing optimisation techniques e.g. Six Sigma / Kaizen / other
