The Purchasing Manager is accountable for managing a portfolio of Contract Manufacturing Organisations, which includes Licensors, Contract Packaging Organisations (CPOs) and Joint Ventures (JVs), as well as Key Suppliers being main point of contact for the CMO's Account Manager

Client Details

The role of Purchasing Manager is for a fabulous client of mine, based in Cambridgeshire and operating in a Logistics Distribution and Supply Chain environment for the manufacturing and supply of Pharmaceuticals. Ideally located near to several major main road, travel to and from the office is easy. The atmosphere at the company is fantastic, and having recruited numerous times for them in the past, the feedback I have taken from my placed candidates is universally positive.

Description

For all CMO's and key suppliers (API, Excipients…), the Purchasing Manager will be expected to:

  • Embed and roll out the SRM program for the allocated CMO's, carry out appropriate Business Reviews (including reviews of KPI's/scorecard)
  • Serve as the primary focus for all allocated CMO and Suppliers related cost saving and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • For allocated assets and CMO's/ Supplier carry out asset and capacity management
  • Carry out RFI/RFQ, and making sourcing recommendations
  • Develop, propose and implement a cost improvement program for the CMO's and suppliers allocated

  • Support the Sourcing and or Strategic Initiatives strategic for NPI, NPD as well as rationalisation of supply base by:

  • Negotiating and/or participating on Supply Agreement review
  • Selecting, negotiating, contracting and on-going management of third party manufacturers
  • Developing risk mitigation strategies to ensure security of supply
  • achieving the necessary resource and commitment from the CMO to achieve the agreed launch timelines

  • Be responsible for implementing Supplier Improvement program involving CMOs e.g.

  • marketed product technical transfers
  • integrating supply chain activities or assets into internal procedures, practices and systems, and also into the designated CMO change management

  • Be the Contract owner/administrator
  • Responsible for Contract Management ensuring that the CMO/supplier fully complies with contractual terms

This involves detailed interpretation of contractual requirements, assessment of CMO activities and issue resolution in a manner that protects company interests.
