LOCATION: Gaydon, Warwickshire
WHAT TO EXPECT
Every product. Every process. Every environment. Our vehicles continually set the benchmark for luxury, innovation and performance thanks to our unrivalled commitment to infinite detail. Join us within our Purchasing teams, and you'll be the driving force behind it all.
Connected Car and Vehicle Software Purchasing is a relatively new team within Jaguar Land Rover's Electrical Production Purchasing group. The department continues to grow, encompassing all software within the vehicle that's bought outside of hardware. With industry predictions estimating that customer-facing technology features could drive up to 50% of the value proposition in automotive as soon as 2020, this continues to be a rapidly developing high-focus area.
The On-Board Purchasing team is the primary point of contact for all purchasing work associated with direct procurement of software for the vehicle and connected car services. The team handles the main areas of software developers and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software procurement. This role will be covering infotainment commodities.
As a Senior Buyer for Infotainment, you'll be involved in sourcing activities for all new vehicle programmes (including associated model year change actions) to target and within the required time frames, part of which will involve supporting the safe launch of all new model programmes, sourced but not yet in mass production. You'll engage in close cooperation with a number of internal and external stakeholders to successfully introduce new products and develop the global supplier strategy for your commodity. In addition, you'll manage all commercial elements associated within your commodity, including (though not limited to) continuity of supply, quality, warranty, cost management, cost event support, capacity management, just-in-time alignment with Jaguar Land Rover plant requirements, supplier plant visits, Jaguar Land Rover plant visits and international travel.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
You'll come to this role with prior experience of production purchasing, ideally gained within an automotive environment. A varied skill set will be required to support the development of global strategies, and you'll be leading a number of complex supply chain optimisation projects. Consequently, strong project management, business acumen and analytical skills will be expected, and possessing these should be demonstrated by evidence of delivering multiple concurrent complex, strategic, high-value projects by effectively managing project risk and mitigation strategies through to project launch. Ideally, you'll round out your expertise by knowledge and awareness of telematics control units and the connected car sector within the automotive industry.
Bring all this to the home of premium innovation, and you'll find the opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, a discounted car purchase and lease scheme for you and your family, membership of a competitive pension plan and a performance-related bonus scheme. All this and more makes Jaguar Land Rover the perfect place to continue your journey.
Jaguar Land Rover is committed to equal opportunity for all.
