Whether you focus on developing procurement policies or strategies, designing procurement systems, or managing contracts, you will be instrumental to improving commercial outcomes across the health sector.

The Department of Health deals with issues that matter to everyone - from funding social care, to preventing pandemics. At a time when England’s health and care sector faces its greatest challenge, we aim to deliver the world’s most compassionate and highest quality service based on individuals’ needs, not their ability to pay. Costing some £120bn per annum, healthcare is probably the largest single public sector internal market in England. What’s more, the NHS has set itself the challenge of £22bn efficiency savings by 2020/21, to close the gap between resources available and patients’ needs. Better commercial practice will be crucial to meeting the challenge. That’s where you come in.

We are seeking a range of skilled and experienced professionals to join us in three key roles:

Procurement Policy Support Manager

Championing procurement best practice, you will help to develop a more proactive and intelligent function that reflects best practice. Recognised for your expertise in strategic/complex procurement, you will drive improvement by developing clear and consistent policies, processes, tools and templates.

Procurement Officer

Working closely with the procurement leadership team and a range of internal and external customers, you will develop and implement procurement and category strategies in diverse spend areas. You will have good commercial acumen and ensure money is spent efficiently and effectively.

Business Intelligence Manager

An experienced procurement systems manager, you will help design and build a more proactive and intelligent function. From influencing reporting requirements and metrics, to building dashboards, you will help us use robust data to improve decision making.

Contract Management Officer

Working closely with strategic suppliers to government and the NHS, your contract management support will do much more than simply ensure compliance. You will use your commercial expertise to achieve better value for patients and service users.
