Specialist Vehicle Manufacturing Group – Multi-Site Operations
A Change Agent to Develop and Optimise an International Supply Chain with growing a Annual Spend in Excess of £40 million


This is a new position within a successful and growing manufacturing group which has an established position and strong reputation within its markets for specialist vehicles in the security, healthcare, social service and educational sectors.   The group operates from three manufacturing sites in the north west/M62 corridor and, reporting to the Group Operations Director, this role will take on leadership of all three locally based teams including purchasing, logistics and stores with the objective of reviewing group purchasing and logisitics practices and developing an integrated supply chain management activity that will take full advantage of the group’s scale and purchasing leverage whilst also maintaining efficient and timely flow of materials and services to the production operations.  Purchase spend can vary between high value items such as vehicle chassis, coachwork and seating through to fit-out equipment, access and mobility equipment, telecommunications and lighting through to raw materials and consumable goods and related production services.  The key objective is bring the whole supply chain and procurement function together effectively in order to operate to consistent standards across the group.  Currently there are c500 suppliers including 30 key ones and an annual spend of c£42m.  The position requires an experienced and well proven Supply Chain professional with formal qualifications, ideally at full CIPS level, and functional leadership experience of the entire supply chain activity within an automotive related manufacturing environment.  You will have strategic ability and strong IT skills with experience of MRP/ERP systems.  Above all, you will have excellent communication skills and the presence and enthusiasm to lead and drive positive change whilst managing the demands of a growing business.  This is a unique opportunity for a self directed, ambitious supply chain specialist to devise and realise a full supply chain activity with tangible results in terms of efficiency, reduced stock levels and exemplary delivery performance to customers throughout the UK and in growing export markets.  The professional exposure to major suppliers and customers will be unequalled together with the job satisfaction of delivering a project from inception to completion and subsequent development.  You will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the north west area.
