Procurement and Supply Chain Manager - Highways

1st Executive are currently working with a leading construction/ infrastructure contractor who are looking for a Procurement and Supply Chain Manager - Highways to join their team, to implement and deliver, tender and project supply chain management strategies. You will be based in Huntingdon- Cambridgeshire.

This role will be working on the Highways contracts.

The successful candidate will establish strong relationships with stakeholders through regular, transparent two-way communication and collaborate with supply chain, clients and partner organisations.


  • Lead the Supply Chain Management Strategy for assigned contracts
  • Ensure our supply chain are aligned to our clients aims and objectives
  • Implement project specific KPI targets with our supply chain, ensuring performance is continuously monitored and improved
  • Develop a robust outline supply chain and procurement Strategies to ensure our contracts are resilient to future workload and have access to market availability and capability.
  • Manage, oversee and develop the local procurement staff
  • Chair and conduct collaborative workshops with our supply chain encouraging innovation and collaboration
  • Mentor and support local SME's through liaison with the federation of Small Business, workshops and joint training initiatives.
  • Engage and collaborate with relevant industry bodies to ensure a coordinated approach to supply chain vulnerability.
  • Undertake comprehensive market analysis (e.g. supply chain mapping, RFIs, PQQs, supplier visits/audits, behavioural assessments, etc)
  • Contribute to tender procurement adjudications, assessment of quotes and subsequent recommendations

We're looking for:

  • Experience of supply chain management and delivering supply chain management plans for major projects
  • Proven ability to create and implement high level strategy documents
  • High level of ability to effectively challenge current thinking and norms to drive collaborative behaviour
  • A strong ability to develop, maintain & leverage value from an extensive internal & external network and build highly productive working relationships
  • Experience of working with the supply chain to deliver the right culture and behaviours
