Senior Buyer (Engineering)

Location: North London

Salary: Circa £30,000 - £34,000 plus benefits

Would you like to work within the London office of a diversified group with operations in over seven countries around the world?

If so, then our client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Buyer to join their expanding team to manage the Engineering Spare Parts category. The successful candidate will be operating within a small international procurement team, supporting group manufacturing activities and should have previous experience within a Technical Engineering environment managing spends such as Plant, Equipment or Capex.

You will take responsibility for a large range of manufacturing and engineering clients, which support FMCG manufacturing operations involved in retail, food, packaging, plastics and construction. There will be opportunities for sourcing products from Europe and the Far East and supporting internal clients across the Middle East.

Candidates should have strong technical engineering procurement experience and ideally will have exposure to suppliers in the Middle East or Low Cost Country Sourcing. Ideally candidates will have knowledge of International trading and Importing / Exporting.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

 As a member of the Engineering team you will be expected to liaise with the internal customers
 Implement cost control and improvement programmes with vendors to maximise profit contribution through effective purchasing and establishing commercial agreements
 Selection and development of vendors to best meet the specifications, quality and logistical requirements
 Act as a single point of contact between the internal customer and the Engineering team
 Manage the work load and project forecasts
 Eventually manage other Buyer's within the department

Ideal Skills and Experience:

 Experienced buyer with strong commercial understanding
 Experience in engineering and allied products
 Familiarity with INCO terms as this is an international Trading environment is desirable
 Ability to evaluate suppliers and negotiate favourable terms of business
 Degree in Engineering or a science subject with technical experience preferable
 Numerate with high degree of computer literacy
 Low cost region sourcing expertise is preferred, but not essential
 Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi cultural setup
 Experience of working on ERP Systems is highly desirable, with SAP Business in particular
 Ideally worked in a manufacturing / technical buying environment for 5 years
