We now have an immediate requirement for a Group Procurement Manager based in Newcastle who will lead the savings delivery process. We are looking for someone to assume the leadership role in taking the organisation to a different level of procurement capability whilst delivering an impressive financial pay-back.

Key purpose of the role:

  • To take the lead across the whole organisation in identifying opportunities to reduce third-party expenditure; through to savings delivery.

  • This will involve changing policies and processes, influencing senior managers across the organisation, and ensuring we drive exceptional value from supplier negotiations.

  • You will be responsible for managing procurement processes including; procurement strategy development - ensuring savings targets are efficiently linked to the group financial plan, conducting supplier market research, managing formal tenders and informal price benchmarking, leading negotiations (internal and external), contract terms development and ongoing supplier relationship management.

  • You will be working closely with the contract and finance team to generate data from the purchase ledger and other data sources to support effective decision making and help construct robust business cases as well as acting as a professional advisor to the senior leadership team, providing advice and guidance on procurement policy covering both strategic and tactical opportunities.


The successful candidate will be MCIPS qualified and have a proven track record of delivering savings in a challenging and complicated environment, with at least five years procurement experience gained in a professional purchasing environment, plus significant experience in drafting supply agreements. Exceptional commercial skills are essential, and the capability of negotiating successfully in a variety of situations, including where spend budgets are limited as well as experience of managing change, motivating others to contribute to the change process whilst proactively minimising risks, and maximises change benefits and savings at every stage of the process.
