The Senior Buyer is responsible for all the purchasing activities related to a defined project. This position will serve as the purchasing lead for a part or a group of parts within a project, including all activities for successful new program introduction and management of components through the life cycle of a project.

Description

  • Develop, enhance & introduce business processes for Purchasing activities to meet the needs of the team & the business
  • Develop, lead and execute commodity strategies which support all company requirements and includes both UK & best Cost Country sources as set out by the needs of the business plan
  • Negotiate supply agreements that require improvements in supplier's cost, delivery, quality, order lead time, payment cycles, technology and / or risk mitigation
  • Lead 'make v buy' and outsourcing processes, co-ordinating supplier selection and lead supplier transition
  • Monitor compliance with supplier contractual requirements. Initiate renegotiation efforts well in advance of contract expiration and monitor industry trends to anticipate opportune timing to lock in contracting advantages
  • Develop technology road maps that drive specific supplier strategies
  • Communicate industry and technology trends or events to the organisation to mitigate impact to the Company and take evasive action where necessary
  • Provide input to budget and purchase price variance projections and monitor performance to goals.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to management on strategic road map and performance objective progress
  • Participate in new product development teams as required to support developmental supplier selection and production launch planning
  • Perform market test and benchmark studies to ensure Global competitiveness
  • Support the business costing process
  • Support projects and initiatives to improve internal performance and customer responsiveness
  • Support and develop a prototype sourcing strategy
  • Provide forecast on key market indexes and communicates risk and opportunity to budget
  • Track and report performance to budget and market on a periodic basis
  • Identify and assist in implementing business improvement policies
