Your new role
In your new job you will be an Indirect Category Manager managing the indirect spend in a specific category. You will be in charge of the strategy, planning and overall responsibility for the category spend. You will be challenged to ensure efficiency in spend for your category, in order to do this you must be comfortable working with senior stakeholders within procurement and with supplier companies as well. There are several significant projects that will be a part of your role, including supplier measurement and rationalisation to ensure that all contracts are being fulfilled, and manage any issues involved.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in your new job you will be an experience procurement professional, with experience in indirect spend and communication at a senior level. Key to your new role will be the confidence and credibility to challenge difficult stakeholders and achieve positive outcomes. To be successful you will need experience managing a complex supplier base, challenging where necessary but also working to improve key supplier relationships. Some CIPS studies are preferred.
