Procurement Manager opportunity for a major UK Charity that helps many thousands of people in the UK every year.  This is an exceptional opportunity as a Procurement Manager, to make a critical difference within a major charity.

In this role you will lead the development and implementation of procurement category strategies, working in partnership with the senior stakeholders/business owners.

Your procurement expertise, your strategic talents and your ability to manage and prioritise projects will ensure you are a critical contributor to the success of this award winning charity. A major focus is in the technology space so some solid IT Category experience would be very helpful; but good Generalist Procurement experience is a must.

This is predominantly a ‘stand-alone’ role; your days activities might include setting up policies & procedures; relationship building, finding out what is being spent and where; and putting proper contracts in place.

The Procurement Manager Purpose (details):-

  • Deliver value for money in all procurement activities.
  • Implement supplier partnership policies and processes which ensure the delivery of goods and services at the required levels of quality.
  • Own and continuously improve procurement policies and procedures and ensuring colleagues understand, engage and comply with them.
  • Providing active guidance and support to business owners on supplier relationships
  • Work with the business to improve value for money on specific categories of spend such as IT, travel or telephony.
  • Line-manage one Senior Procurement Officer.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Essential Skills of the Procurement Manager (details):-

  • Proven ability to lead high value procurement activities independently and to deliver value for money.
  • Strong communication, negotiation skills and commercial acumen to ensure value for money in goods and services procured.
  • Proactivity in identifying opportunities to improve value for money and developing projects to deliver improvements.
  • Ability to work in partnership with senior stakeholders and understand their immediate business needs and longer term plans. 
  • Ability to work at pace, prioritise competing demands and design and manage several projects concurrently.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret financial and other statistical data, understanding of budgetary processes and ability to produce clear and accurate reports.
  • Proven knowledge and practical application of all aspects of the procurement cycle, of government procurement best practice, and of EU and UK Public Procurement Directives.
  • Qualified member of CIPS or equivalent experience.
