Your new company
You will be joining a leading manufacturing engineering company based in Tyrone who place emphasis on quality and precision within a fast paced environment. Due to internal growth and expansion, they are seeking a Junior Buyer / Purchasing Assistant to join their successful Procurement department on a full time permanent basis, providing progressive opportunities for future development.
Your new role
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, you will manage the flow of materials from global suppliers to monitor delivery schedules, lead times, quality and participate in price negotiations to achieve a targeted cost saving. Using internal MRP/ERP software, you will raise purchase orders with a selected group of suppliers and work alongside planners to forecast inventory control levels. The Buyer will liaise with all organisational departments and focus on implementing lean continuous improvement initiatives to optimise best practice in supply chain management techniques. Also, you will be involved with all sourcing activities on a global scale to improve on material quality and price, whilst monitoring performance of all suppliers.
What you'll need to succeed
Your previous experience working effectively within a high volume Purchasing/Material Planning/Sourcing or Supply Chain team will lead to success along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and exposure to MRP/ERP systems. Also, you must be confident to liaise and communicate with a global supply base by developing relationships with new and existing suppliers across the UK, EU, USA and Asia whilst expressing a passion for personal development within the Procurement market. Working towards or having a full CIPS qualification or Supply Chain related degree will be an advantage but not necessarily required.
