Distribution Shift Manager position

Your new role
My client seeking a highly motivated distribution shift manager. In this role you will assume overall responsibility for the depot, with travel to other depots when required. You will supervise and assist with the management of the Department in accordance with company standards, communicating with colleagues to ensure the smooth running of operations. You will implement distribution plans for the distribution function to meet current/future customer service requirements and continually improve cost efficiency and quality of service in line with the Distribution Centre goals.

  • Ensure day to day management and planning of the distribution function, ensuring DC standards and targets are met
  • Input into distribution cost budgets
  • Staff recruitment and retention - recruit, train and develop direct reports
  • Establish and implement the distribution centre succession plan
  • Adherence to Company policies and procedures & ensure Group H&S policy is implemented and adhered to
  • Input into and implementation of distribution and operational strategy in line with distribution centre goals
  • Increase driver awareness to reduce accidents
  • Customer Service
  • Communication cascade (two-way)
  • Distribution centre security
  • Management of Distribution assets
  • Stock integrity
  • Order routing
  • Compliance with current transport Legislation
  • COD control
  • Telesales liaison


What you'll need to succeed

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to HND Level and/or 3 years relevant experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of tachograph legislation
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • IT literate
  • Aware of Health and Safety issues and legislation
  • Good team working ability
  • Experience in change management
  • Organisation and prioritisation skills
  • The knowledge and initiative to solve basic problems and make routine decisions

Desirable Criteria

  • Good geographical knowledge of Northern Ireland
  • HGV C licence
  • CPC Driver Qualification card
  • Digital Tachograph card
  • People Management experience
  • Multi drop experience
  • Evidence of problem solving and decision making
  • International CPC
