My client is a rapidly growing business that due to recent acquisitions are looking to expand their transport planning team. They are looking for an experience transport planner with driver management to join their dynamic team.

Monitor tonnage and cost for each vehicle, ensuring they are in line with management expectations

Plan loads according to routes using the internal system in an effective and efficient way

Prepare the routes in a timely fashion to allow the warehouse operation to operate effectively

In conjunction with deliveries, manage all collections back into the business

Manage the driving and contracted hours to ensure compliance and fairness

Check all notes have been printed and accounted for from the Sales Office

When required, check all delivery notes on return for correct delivery details and signatures

In conjunction with Transport Manager and Logistics Manager, check that all driver hours are in line with WTD legislation

Book in the necessary orders direct with the customer

Hire agency drivers when necessary, ensuring the necessary paperwork / induction packs are completed before they commence shift

When required, assist in the arrangement of loads ready for outside hauliers

Answer delivery queries from the Sales Office on behalf of their customers

Communicate with the drivers to assist in a smooth delivery programme

Ensure departments are supplied with relevant and requested information i.e Accounts, HR, Sales etc.

Deputise for the Transport Manager during periods of annual leave/sickness


Must have at least two years transport planning experience

Be up to date on key legislation within the transport industry

Have driver management experience

Have good knowledge of transport planning systems and manual experience

Be pro-active in creating a positive working relationship with colleagues throughout the business


Can build and develop positive working relationships

Good Communicator

Understanding of legal transport compliance

Strong UK geographical knowledge


IT literate in Microsoft Office

Good general attitude to work

Job Offer

A salary between £22,000 and £24,000 + Benefits.
