About the role
As the Global Category Manager you will set a clear and compelling strategy, lead on the development and implementation for your global category and deliver against it, ensuring that the maximum value and innovation are realised through National Grid’s global supply chain.
- You will be responsible for continuously driving improved category strategies by working collaboratively with key Global Procurement personnel and wider business entities to leverage business and market insight.
- You will own the delivery of a portfolio of strategic sourcing events within allocated global category area, working with stakeholders to plan and prioritise workload and challenge demand, identifying best sourcing strategies and delivering events from market engagement through to award.
- You will leverage resources from the pool of regional buyers.
- Undertaking research and analysis to profile the characteristics of allocated global category, including external analysis of supply markets and supplier trends to inform the global category management planning process, you will ensure opportunities to drive value are leveraged and that risks (i.e., around supply shortage, etc.,) are identified and mitigated
You will have a Degree or equivalent and previous experience of understanding, identifying and executing multiple opportunities across a range of Categories to deliver value.
With experience of broad, supply chain management in complex, global enterprise environments, you will have the ability to develop Category Management & Strategic Sourcing to an expert level within the teams.
With a track record of driving value beyond straightforward procurement savings in areas of value engineering, usage of lean techniques to identify and eliminate waste and identify income opportunities in the extended value chain, you also have the ability to communicate dynamically at all levels within National Grid and externally to senior leaders within supplier organisations
Possessing a good understanding of broader business objectives and the implications of strategic planning and actions within the category on the regional/global businesses, you will be an expert in influencing & negotiating to drive optimum value through the award of commercially sound contracts.
You will have relationship management experience, driving commercial value and performance through major contracts
