About the role
As an Associate Buyer you will be part of a team responsible for strategic procurement operations you’ll start by supporting with daily procurement operations supporting the Senior Procurement staff. You will then move on to running your own sourcing events which you will manage from start to finish, as well as continuing to support Senior Buyers and Category Managers with their events.
You will also work with Contract Managers to ensure the successful delivery of contracted activities, identifying continuous improvement opportunities through engagement with suppliers and stakeholders, and maximising value for money from contracts awarded.
Contribute to an effective forward planning process by identifying future requirements of supported areas and ensure robust forecasting is put in place that maximises value of goods / services procured.
Ideally you’ve worked in strategic sourcing and category management before. However, Procurement experience isn’t essential. More important are a degree (or equivalent), good commercial acumen and a motivated, organised approach. If you’re ready to learn and take on responsibility, we’ll give you the opportunity to build your talents within a supportive, experienced team. With our professionals to guide you, you’ll become adept at using analytical tools, presenting data, managing stakeholders and handling contracts. With drive, initiative and strong communication skills, you’ll become a valuable member of National Grid. If you’re not MCIPS-qualified already, we’ll expect you to work towards this
