Site Purchasing Manager opportunity for a Global Pharma Company; excellent package including 15% bonus + car allow + pension + flexible benefits. Do you have direct manufacturing procurement experience in a regulated environment?

You will possess significant direct manufacturing procurement experience, ideally derived in a pharmaceutical environment; however you may have come from another regulated industry. You will need to be resilient, self-motivated and is able to build strong working relationships with your suppliers and stakeholders on site and at other company locations.

Site Purchasing Manager Role Purpose:

You will strategically manage the sourcing, negotiating and contracting to ensure supply of services and goods to the site from the external market place by applying best purchasing practises for assigned categories. You will develop effective business relationships with suppliers, Business Partners and other team members. You will be responsible for the successful management of the sites supplier base, ensuring minimization of risk and compliance to relevant processes; to ensure continuity of supply and optimised external spend.


  • Leverage key organizational capabilities to implement and execute Category Strategies consistent with the company's overall goals and objectives to ensure external spend optimisation and supply-security within assigned categories
  • Take active part in cross functional projects to realise savings potential and execute identified business opportunities.
  • Strategically manage in an autonomous independent working style to deliver quality and value.
  • Lead project teams in a cross functional relationship to execute processes and strategies.

Site Purchasing Manager Skills and Experience Required:

  • Experienced at buying direct and indirect manufacturing purchasing categories
  • Manages complex categories /groups of categories / projects / suppliers
  • Skilled negotiator
  • Ability to work independently and in an ambiguous environment
  • Extensive experience of procurement in goods, services, capital items
  • Project, change management, assertiveness and influencing skills
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Ability to work under the pressure of crisis situations
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Working with a matrix management environment
  • Cultural dexterity
  • Excellent financial and analytical skills
  • Experienced at successfully developing and implementing sourcing plans for various spend categories
  • Skilled communicator – able to interact and present effectively at all levels
  • Ability to adapt communication and collaboration style to individual situations e.g. working with Category Managers, Global colleagues, suppliers, internal business partners and other peers
  • Excellent at building relationships with business partners
  • Fully understands, follows and communicates relevant policies
  • Challenges and documents complex business requirements / projects

Educational Requirements

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent
  • MCIPS qualified or equivalent
  • MS Office, ERP system
  • Fluent English (written and verbal)
  • Engineer qualification optional
