Supply Chain & Manufacturing Operations Manager - Military, Medical + Industrial PPE
North London + Occasional Travel to Factory in China
£50,000 plus bonus (£55,000 - £60,000 OTE) + Pension
We are looking for a candidate who has been running a supply chain and/or manufacturing team for at least 5 years. Who can work independently and not afraid to make business critical decisions within their agreed framework. Someone who can demonstrate that they can grip a problem and solve issues through ownership of the department.
About the company:
We are a UK based manufacturer of custom textile solutions. We were founded in 1948 and operate out of London where we have 50 employees and have our own Chinese factory with 250 staff. We operate in the Military, Medical, Personal Protection Equipment and Industrial sectors.
The Supply Chain Manager Role:
The role-holder will own, maintain & develop the Supply Chain, the day-to-day operations of Supply Chain, including Chinese facility. There will be travel to China and working hours in UK will be expected to be earlier than normal to meet requirements of communications with China.
As a Key member of Management team the role-holder will:
+ Manage day-to-day operations of Chinese production facility with the Chinese Factory Manager
+ Develop the Supply Chain in line with business requirements (quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness, innovation)
+ Identify/develop supporting objectives and tactics and drive execution of the plans
+ Influence company technical capability and knowledge from the supply chain
+ Develop an effective, capable and motivated supply chain
+ Improve the total cost of acquisition of goods and services, and derive value from the Supply Chain to drive competitive advantage
+ Promote sourcing of new supply chains (goods, services & manufacturing techniques)
+ Determine supplier objectives to match organisational objectives, and affect management of supplier capabilities and resources
+ Inventory Management – responsibility for all offsite procurement and stock
+ Employ Continuous Improvement techniques and practices to reduce waste in internal processes
+ Utilise and support Material Requirement Planning (MRP)
+ Generate and Maintain appropriate KPI
+ Improve Design for efficient manufacture
Required Key Skills / Experience / Attributes:
+ 5+ years’ experience as a Supply Chain Leader
+ Exposure to overseas manufacturing preferably in China
+ Must have manufacturing background
+ Understanding of MRP systems
+ High level Excel skills
+ Can demonstrate Technical awareness
+ Can demonstrate modern supply chain techniques
+ Use to dealing with C-level staff
+ A Mandarin speaker would be advantageous
