Procurement professional required for a category manager role for a global manufacturing business. Raw materials or electronics would be ideal.

Client Details

Global manufacturing business who are the leader in their market. They are rapidly growing their procurement team and require a category manager to manage a raw materials spend.

Description

  • Run new product, value engineering and feature development projects (for direct materials and services)
  • Provide support and analysis to internal teams
  • Present project reviews to senior managers
  • Support resolution of major quality issues if they arise
  • Negotiate pricing, cost reductions and identify future savings opportunities for assigned categories and suppliers

  • Work with the wider bid and project teams to understand the requirements of tender documents and incorporate costs and products and service descriptions into bid responses

  • Monitor performance of selected suppliers, ensuring appropriate standards are met

Profile

  • Analytical skills, including the ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information
  • Capacity to assess options, provide alternatives and problem solve

  • Strength and courage of conviction when decided
  • A pro-active communicator with an ability to effectively interact with disparate/remote internal teams

  • Stakeholder management skills including the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to understand their needs and to work in partnership to achieve workable and practical outcomes

  • Engaging with directors and key stakeholders at a senior level

  • Experience of working in conjunction with technical departments
