Do you want to progress your career in Procurement as part of a commercially focussed team? Are you a confident and articulate individual with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels in an organisation? Due to an expansion of the current team, we are seeking an enthusiastic and driven individual to join our Procurement function and support in the delivery of procurement best practice across the organisation.
TfGM oversees transport in Greater Manchester, delivering and improving transport services, facilities and information to make travel easier for everyone. We deliver high-profile, large-scale transport projects, and it’s our experts who provide the information and analysis to shape transport strategy. This is a busy and exciting time for us: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London.
This is an exciting opportunity that will enable you to develop and build upon your existing procurement knowledge and skills. You will have responsibility for a diverse portfolio of commodity goods and services whilst supporting the Senior Procurement Team in the delivery of more complex, higher value, strategic requirements. You will have the opportunity to enhance the performance of the Procurement function by improving spend analytics capability within the team, identifying efficiency opportunities across the business and working across the organisation to realise these.
As a Procurement Officer you will collaborate with stakeholders across TfGM, undertaking a range of procurement related activity as part of a commercially focussed team. This will include managing end-to-end tendering activity across a variety of common goods and services, supporting stakeholders across the business in contract development and management, and building positive relationships with suppliers to maximise value. You will have the opportunity to develop your commercial skills by identifying opportunities to reduce costs, reduce operational and commercial risks, and increase value, via the collection and analysis of data, collaborative working with the business and benefit realisation.
You will have experience of working within a procurement-related discipline and have a sound knowledge of procurement principles, concepts and techniques. You will have experience of preparing, critiquing and developing tender documentation for competitive tendering. You will also be able to work within multi-functional teams and be able to communicate and influence ideas.
In return, as well as a competitive salary, we offer a fantastic range of benefits, including:
- free home to work travel by train or Metrolink within the Greater Manchester boundary;
- free bus travel across Greater Manchester;
- 27 days annual leave;
- access to the local government pension scheme
At TfGM we welcome and encourage applications from everyone regardless of age, disability, gender, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation. We are actively building a diverse workforce and want to create an inclusive environment as we recognise the importance of our workforce reflecting the communities we serve.
If you are seeking a Procurement role which will challenge and stretch you and allow you to contribute significantly to the development of Greater Manchester we would really like to hear from you!
