Are you looking for a role with global opportunities? This company, headquartered in London, can offer just that. With a global presence and constituent of the FTSE 250 Index, a Category Buyer is required to join and develop within its established procurement team.

As Category Buyer, your role will be to effectively manage relationships with current suppliers and identify new suppliers to support the operations teams in terms of reducing costs and ensuring excellent product quality on a continuous improvement basis.  You will provide support to other members of the team to deliver agreed objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify cost savings opportunities through alternative products and services sourcing and continually challenging the supplier base for seeking new innovations and cost optimization to provide value for money
  • Assist in building of strong business partnerships with suppliers
  • Review and evaluate suppliers and items for input to the Procurement system
  • Responsible for day to day communication with suppliers to ensure Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators are being achieved
  • Support compliance with company Policies, Processes and Procedures
  • Preparing Requests for Information and Requests for Proposals
  • Support with the tender process, including the selection of contractors and provision of all relevant contract and schedule documentation
  • Support with the analysis of the bidders submissions
  • Provide accurate monthly reporting as requested

Skills & Competencies

  • Working knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement processes
  • Generalist procurement – indirect and direct categories
  • Proven track record in previous procurement analyst role - ability to analyse multiple categories of spend
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and organisation skills
  • Highly numerate, excel literate to regular user standard
  • Team member who builds strong, honest relationships with colleagues, internal stakeholders and suppliers
  • Financial acumen
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work under pressure
  • Attention to detail and ability to focus priorities with a high workload
