An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Category Manager IT infrastructure for a Global Bank based in Cheshire / Manchester

Client Details

A global bank with over 325 years of experience in the sector servicing millions of clients daily.


The Main Purpose of the role is to manage key IT categories including end user and large projects and manage strategic relationships with the largest spend suppliers including Microsoft, IBM, Dell and HP with over £1b amount of spend.

Duties to include:

Market Expert: Actively seek out innovation and inspire thought leadership. Meet industry peers and seek out opportunities for knowledge transfer in the sourcing community.
Analyse Spend Data: perform in-depth spend analysis within a category (e.g. spend structure by supplier, business unit, function, geography and to identify key drivers for spend and demand and understand the underlying cost drivers and cost levers).
Analyse procurement practices and supplier risk: map and analyse the current commodity practices (e.g. supplier concept and buying channels).
Benchmarks: Conduct market research on current best practices, and best in class rates, determining external future category trends.
Develop sourcing plan: The SCM creates the short and long term plans.


Skills/Experience Required

Extensive experience in procurement with a reputable firm, preferably in financial services industry
Experience dealing with senior stakeholders, including executives up to Board Level
Business degree or similar discipline, or equivalent commercial work experience
Knowledge and experience of specific market and key vendors on a global basis
Project Management and execution, including collaborative stakeholder management
Managing resources in a matrix environment
