Transport Shift Manager
My client is looking for an experienced Transport Shift Manager, who can run a compliant and well managed transport shift. You will manage a large team of drivers and transport support staff and be critical within the distribution function. You must have 3+ years experience within FMCG or 3PL transport and distribution.
The job of Transport Shift Manager will involve the supervision of a team of Transport Operators ensuring a wide variety of administrative and coordination activities are completed and delivered to the customer's satisfaction whilst achieving or exceeding all KPIs. This will involve everything from data inputting and filing through to monitoring and auditing H&S and compliance; updating internal and external KPIs; customer relations; and the day to day organisation of Drivers, Vehicles and other associated processes and systems and transport related issues. You will also ensure Drivers and Staff continuously exceed customer expectations in terms of performance and behaviour. You will have overall responsibility for management of the shift and will support the assistant and regional Operations Manager in the overall safe & efficient running of the depot. The operation currently employs c75 drivers and utilises the services of sub-contractors and agency drivers on a regular basis
Working in a small but dynamic team, we are looking for an individual with a strong team and work ethic who can apply a flexible approach to their work. There may be times, that due to operational issues, your duties will fall outside of your usual remit, so adaptability and the ability to use your initiative will be key. A good understanding of the transport industry is essential as you will be liaising both with drivers and customers whilst planning activity schedules for trucks and drivers. Good telephone and interpersonal skills are required together with the ability to work on your own initiative. Previous experience in a similar role would be an advantage. You will also need a good intermediate knowledge of MS Word and Excel, strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and be solution driven. CPC is desirable but not essential.
- In depth experience in transport operations with full knowledge of transport legislation.
- Knowledge and understanding of transport KPI's

- CPC Holder preferred
- Prepared to be flexible in working time arrangements
- Experienced supervisor or front line manager
- Experienced of working within an IR environment
A salary between £36,000 and £38,000 dependant on experience + bonus
