Plymouth City Council are looking for ambitious and motivated Category Leads to join the Procurement Services Function and are interested in hearing from candidates who can lead, develop and implement supply chain strategies to transform Council spend and deliver ongoing value for money across Council expenditure. The Council is currently undergoing a procurement transformation programme and this is an exciting opportunity to take a lead role in the implementation. Candidates will bring in-depth market intelligence to influence annual spend across Categories in the region of £10M+, and develop supplier and stakeholder relationships.

The ideal candidate should come with knowledge of public sector and an awareness of issues relating to the work of public sector ideally with local government procurement practice. You will need to have a proven track record of achievement within a similar field in a similarly large and complex organisation and experience of leading and delivering high value contracts.

You should have experience of implementing and operating category management methodology and delivery. Your application should evidence the categories where you have successfully delivered category management. You should have experience in Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and procedures.

Your application must demonstrate how you meet the essential and desirable criteria outlined in the role profile.
