Your new role To maximise the competitive advantage of the organisation through sustainable best in class Supply Chain Management. Supporting the development and implementation of sourcing strategies to ensure sustainable timely delivery of materials, products and services to meet customer requirements whilst optimising financial performance.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CIP's qualification or equivalent professional (Membership preferred
  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience in Engineering environment
  • Able to lead and work as part of teams
  • Knowledge of purchasing and quality procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of inventory management and Lean replenishment systems
  • Excellent IT and analytical skills
  • Understanding of Contract Law
  • Knowledge of Global markets
  • Quality theories and practices - Problem Solving
  • Professionalism and integrity at all times
  • Must be able to travel and hold current driving license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence at all levels Desirable
  • Auditing skills
  • 5S and Lean methodologies

  • Leverage of the companies global spend through effective and coordinated commodity management
  • Ensure the supply chain activities for all projects are coordinated and managed effectively to deliver all SQDC requirements
  • Identify, evaluate and develop suppliers to best meet the current and future needs of the business and Engineering projects
  • Liaise with Engineering on all projects to fully understand technical, commercial and time scale requirements to ensure suppliers meet fully, these expectations
  • Track all material costs against initial estimates and escalate any risk of margin erosion with project teams and commercial management
  • Work with and maintain a robust list of approved suppliers capable of supporting multiple projects across the required markets, applications and geographies of the Division and its customers
  • Develop supplier relationships and drive improvement in supplier performance through recognition and communication of both positive and negative achievement
  • Effectively manage the impact on inventory value of all material movements, projects and product life cycles
  • Identify areas of risk in the supply chain, effectively prioritise, develop and implement plans to mitigate such risks, escalating whenever necessary
  • Ensure all supplier or sub-contract activities are performed safely with zero accidents and promote the reporting of near hit incidents across the business
  • Ensure use of preferred carrier agreements where practicable and logistic analysis is conducted to determine most cost effective and efficient transport modes
  • Continuously benchmark suppliers, analyse pricing trends and utilise cost models to defend against price increases, achieve price decreases and best total cost of ownership solutions
  • Proactively resolve invoice discrepancies
  • Ensure systems such are fully supported and utilised to continuously improve all procurement and inventory control activities.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are developed and maintained to reflect current working practises


  • Develop and maintain an approved supplier list to serve as an initial reference for sourcing activities
  • Effective Project Management and coordination to deliver all materials and projects in line with SQDC requirements
  • Regularly review all KPI's, prioritise, develop and implement plans to improve the performance of the Supply Chain
  • Preparation of enquiries and presentation of quotation analysis and recommendations to optimise the supply chain and total acquisition
  • Maximise the payment terms with suppliers to improve WADPO for the Division
  • Manage inventory levels and develop supplier strategies for inventory reduction
  • Monitor and analyse freight data to develop supplier strategies to reduce freight cost, reduce lead times and improve customer service
