You will be supporting the Head of Procurement/Category Manager in delivering key projects & procurement targets. You will manage a UK based multi-million pound spend. This role involves an extensive level of stakeholder & key supplier management to deliver the maximum value from assigned categories under your responsibility.

You will probably be working in your first procurement role, ideally in the property/construction sector. You will possess some procurement experience but this role is a fast track development role, which will lead to a full Category Manager position.

Buyer - Construction Role Purpose:-

  • To develop category plans for the categories under your control. To manage the cost base by delivering opportunities that drive costs out through strong negotiation, value engineering, strengthening supplier relationships to mitigate risk and improve performance. Takes guidance, and provides input, to manage all aspects of the sourcing lifecycle in support of Harrods strategic vision.
  • Responsible for the procurement of goods and services in Engineering, Store Services, Shop- fitting, Construction and Energy categories. The role will cover strategic category management, delivery of short to long term cost improvements and supplier relationship management. Some knowledge of the above categories would be useful.

Buyer - Construction Experience and Competencies Required:-

  • Some experience in a Procurement environment, ideally in the property/construction sector
  • Good PC literacy (word, excel and preferably SAP)
  • Strong customer service
  • Focus when dealing with both internal and external parties.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time-management skills and the ability and willingness to multi-task.
  • Flexibility and readiness to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good attention to detail which will be evident through completed administration.
  • Ability to perform duties effectively with minimum supervision and guidance.
  • Preferable educated to degree level
