The Purchasing team are global buyers who purchase goods and services across all categories of expenditure – facilities, IT (software, hardware and telecoms) HR and marketing.

The purchasing team comprises of the following functions:

•           Contract renewals

•           Telecoms order management

•           Telecoms and market data billing

•           Raising requisitions and purchase orders for ad hoc requirements

The purpose of the Buying Team/P2P Process Improvement Manager role is to oversee these functions, be responsible for the day to day delivery of these services and to provide hands on assistance as necessary. Reporting into the Head of Procurement the Buying Team/P2P Process Improvement Manager should be accountable for the performance of the team.

One of the prime functions will be to review current processes and practices to ensure they are fit for purpose and are consistent across the organisation.


  • Day to day management of the purchasing team

  • Ensure timely renewal of all contracts

  • Ensure purchase orders and telecoms orders are raised and receipted in a timely manner

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal customers and suppliers

  • Promote central procurement policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across the organisation

  • Ensure the delivery of bought in goods and services at the lowest cost, to agreed targets

  • Participate in the purchasing process which will include; obtaining quotes, the development of specifications with internal customers, supplier evaluation and due diligence, supplier appraisal and supplier negotiations

  • Record software license purchases and feed into a Software Asset Management process

  • Contribute to the Vendor Risk Management process to ensure that any risks associated with vendors are understood and communicated

  • Review and manage the due diligence process

  • Ensure delivery of the telecoms and market data billing management process

  • Review current approach across the team to ensure best practice

  • Ensure that the team is cross-trained and can manage any absences seamlessly

  • Maintain the existing tools and suggest improvements

  • Determine opportunity to widen the scope of Purchasing, both for goods and services that are managed by the team and geographical usage

  • Reduce the number of purchase orders raised and invoices received by implementing sensible supply arrangements with preferred vendors

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve vendor base and enhance relationships with preferred vendors

  • Work with finance and technical teams to introduce process efficiencies

  • To fulfil any additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business


  • Strong organisational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

  • Previous team management experience

  • Strong interpersonal skills; client service oriented

  • Conscientious, self-motivated, resilient and goal oriented

  • Excellent attention to detail, quality and control

  • Proactive and able to show initiative to constantly improve procedures and processes

  • Good grasp of purchasing concepts and practices

  • Some knowledge of software licensing would be advantageous

  • Knowledge of Oracle iProcurement would be an advantage but not a pre-requisite

  • Understanding of Procure to Pay Process

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering process improvement
