An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our client based in Doncaster as an FMCG buyer. Being an industry leader within its sector in the UK they are looking to grow their purchasing team due to growth in the company.

Client Details

Our client based in Doncaster is an industry leader within the UK, and with the growth experienced this year they are looking to hire a new FMCG buyer to the team. This role will be brought in to reassess the current suppliers and negotiate on contracts in order to make vast cost savings in order to grow the portfolio for 2018.


The key responsibilities of the FMCG buyer will be to:

* Maintain key relationships with suppliers
* Negotiate prices with suppliers for new and existing products
* Ensure goods are delivered on time and on spec
* Adhere to purchasing processes
* Remove and mitigate supply chain risks and constraints
* Work with peers and stakeholders as purchasing representative on projects
* Introduce innovation through supplier networks
* Have an assertive, proactive and tenacious approach to delivering results and objectives
* Raise purchase orders, requisitions and schedules as needed by the business
* Work with the sales and commercial team on customer tenders to ensure cost accuracy
* Have good commercial awareness


The Successful FMCG Buyer will have:

* A minimum of 5 years purchasing
* Background in Far East Sourcing
* Ability to work under pressure
* Manufacturing experience / knowledge
* Excellent negotiation and communication skills
* Ability to multi task
* Confidence working as part of a team and independently
* Strong financial awareness to include material costings and margins
* Strong supplier management experience
* Ability to influence at all levels

Job Offer

Competitive Salary £25-32k. Monday to Friday work hours 8am-5pm.
