Procurement Specialist, Strategic Planning

£29,323 to £41,967 per annum

We have an opportunity for a Procurement Specialist to join our Strategic Planning team at SSDC.  We are part of a newly formed Strategy and Commissioning team and are responsible for ensuring that Members’ ambitions are translated into actions on the ground which deliver our Corporate objectives.

The Procurement Specialist will guide our activities around procurement and commissioning and contribute to making us more efficient and effective in the way we commission services and manage risk.  You will be working with colleagues across all areas of the Council, when external or third sector providers are contracted to deliver services on our behalf, ensuring that we behave in accordance with the Public Contract Regulations 2015.  You will also be supporting the organisation through our Audit and Risk Management procedures.

Working as part of a cross functional and busy team, the successful candidate will understand the importance of effective procurement in an organisation and have the ability to interpret legislation and guidance and translate this into workable organisational policy.  You will actively promote the development, delivery and management of the Council’s procurement strategies, ensuring policies that govern procurement are robust and fit for purpose. Reports shall be developed and submitted to senior Council boards. Interaction with suppliers will also be necessary in terms of supporting the Councils e-tendering system.

You will be based in the SSDC office in Brympton Way, Yeovil where we operate agile working practices, but may need to travel to other offices.

Please contact Jan Gamon, Strategic Planning Lead, on 07971 111884 if you would like to discuss the role in more detail.
