We are currently recruiting for two Global Buyers within the IT & Professional Services team within a global conglomerate business during an exciting period of centralisation with strong growth ambitions. Our client is a manufacturer of speciality products based upon improving the wellbeing of the world’s population to be based in their offices in Amsterdam. One role is a permanent position, the other would be on a 6 month contract with immediate start.  

In this role you will actively participate in sourcing activities with the goal of achieving cost reductions, while maintaining or improving quality or vendor service levels. You will work closely together with the Global Sourcing team who are responsible for the global sourcing strategy for a specific category. Your focus will be split across long term projects such as assisting in preparing and coordinating bids as well as operational activities such as monitoring the purchasing process and negotiating with suppliers.  

As the Global Buyer -  IT & Professional Services, you have a key role within the organization. You will interact  with sites, suppliers and colleagues from all over the globe on a day to day basis. This position would offer further development within your procurement career.   

Global Buyer Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the sourcing activities for the IT & Professional services category, with the goal of achieving cost reductions, while maintaining or improving quality or vendor service levels;

  • In charge of the operational part of the sourcing process;

  • Issue purchase orders/call-offs;

  • Follow up on orders to ensure that items are shipped and delivered on time;

  • Address & solve issues during the sourcing process;

  • Analyse processes and share learnings within the organization;

  • Negotiate with suppliers;

  • Assist the Global Sourcing Managers in preparing and coordinating bids, provide them with relevant information;

  • Review, prepare, verify and/or approve financial and business transactions within established frameworks and guidelines. 

Ideal Background

  • Bachelor or Master degree or equivalent work experience;

  • Relevant work experience in an analytical and coordinating role, preferably within procurement;

  • Experience within indirect categories desirable;

  • Excellent command of English. Additional language skills are desirable;

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills;

  • Result driven personality and able to work autonomously;

  • Strong business orientation and understanding of business processes;

  • Demonstrated skill at maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail;

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills;

  • Strategic thinker and pragmatic worker;
