The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is seeking an experienced procurement professional to lead and provide expert commercial advice to colleagues through the full procurement lifecycle: pre-market, sourcing and contract and supplier management.
IICSA is one of the most important and high-profile public inquiries ever established. Our role is to identify, understand and learn from the institutional failings that allowed child sexual abuse to happen in the past, and to make robust recommendations to prevent that abuse from happening in the future. Your contribution will ensure value for money on any contracts that are managed for the Inquiry.
As the Commercial Manager, you will plan, draft and implement procurement, strategies and provide professional advice and support to customers. Your duties will include travel and occasional overnight stays to visit suppliers and customers at the IICSA offices located across England and Wales. You will also work collaboratively with the Crown Commercial Service and provide line management for the Commercial Officer.
The successful candidate will be an experienced procurement professional with sound understanding of public procurement policies and procedures and domestic legal requirements. They will need to demonstrate flexibility in their approach to working and communicating with customers and stakeholders across teams and levels within IICSA and be able to explain the application of commercial activities to those less familiar with them.
In return, we can offer the opportunity and support to work towards professional qualifications such as MCIPS.
With the Inquiry being a time-limited project, the role is offered on a fixed term contract basis (21 months), or loan/secondment for existing civil servants.
