Commissioning and Procurement Services (CPS) sits within the Strategic Services of Birmingham City Council. Based in Woodcock Street, near the City Centre, CPS covers the entire Commissioning, Procurement and Contract Management cycle for the largest local authority in Europe.

Following a recent internal promotion we are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic professional to join our Procurement Team. Ideally you will be capable of hitting the ground running, managing service related categories. However, if you are currently in a more junior role and looking for a development opportunity then we would be interested to hear from you too.

We welcome candidates with transferable category knowledge who wish to apply their skills and experience to the huge variety of projects taking place in Birmingham as we work towards hosting the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

The role requires excellent organisational, interpersonal and influencing skills. You will be managing multiple procurement projects and will have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with senior business partners, identifying areas needing procurement input and expertise and developing procurement capability across the council.

In return, we offer an attractive salary, the Local Government Pension Scheme, flexible and agile working arrangements, a generous annual leave entitlement and exceptional training and development opportunities.

Your skills and attitude are more important than your employment background. If you are comfortable working within the structure of organisational and legislative procurement regulations balancing risk and value, then this is an environment in which you can thrive, working on a variety of projects.

If you aren’t partially or fully CIPS qualified, you should be willing to attain the professional qualification for which we will offer full support as well as the opportunity to undertake continuing professional development.

If you would like to find out more about these exciting opportunities please contact;
