The Category Manager role is part of the purchasing department within the Finance Division at Imperial College London that has responsibility for leading and managing all purchasing activities across College including the co-ordination, letting, management, and monitoring of purchasing agreements that are used by faculties, departments and divisions.
The Category Manager’s role will be to manage and lead sourcing activities for major construction projects including an ability to deliver mini-competitions using the College’s preferred list of consultants and contractors and delivering high quality contracts for construction works and services. This is a key role responsible for playing an integral part in the delivery of College’s £multi-million capital investment programme consisting of a host of new-build, refurbishment, fit out and alteration projects.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in a procurement and supply chain management role relating to the construction and property industry and will therefore probably have worked either for an estate owner-occupier, property company, developer or contractor. As an integral team member, you will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work closely and successfully with internal colleagues as well as external stakeholders and partners.
It is expected that you will be educated to Degree level either in a supply chain management or construction related subject or will have equivalent in-depth category management experience.
