Part time, Permanent
Kew Gardens, Richmond
Kew is the world’s leading botanic gardens, at the forefront of plant and fungal science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a major visitor attraction.
We want a world where plants and fungi are understood, valued and conserved – because our lives depend on them.
We use the power of our science and the rich diversity of our gardens and collections to provide knowledge, inspiration and understanding of why plants and fungi matter to everyone.
We're looking for a Procurement Manager to join our team, for 3 days per week.
The Procurement Team at RBG Kew provide a service which delivers effective Value for Money procurement solutions in support of the organisation’s strategic objectives.
We manage a wide and diverse portfolio of work including: service contracts (e.g. consultancy, FM, cleaning, security); concession contracts (e.g. catering, festivals, events); specialist goods (science equipment, orchids, tractors) and minor & major works (refurbishment / new build on a World Heritage Site with 100+ buildings).
The variety of activities makes for an interesting and varied workload.
Our successful candidate will work alongside 3 other Procurement Managers supporting the Head of Procurement to provide procurement processes, procedures, strategies and policies in line with national best practice, and the strategic objectives of RBG Kew. You, specifically, will manage a portfolio of procurement projects, providing procurement advice across all levels of the organisation, as required, for the tendering, award and monitoring of a wide range of contracts for works, goods and services.
Experience of procuring Facilities Management and Constructions/works is desirable.
To be successful in this role you'll have, or be working towards, Chartered institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) professional standard (or equivalent) and have relevant experience of working in a public sector/charitable organisation.
You will have a working knowledge of legislation, OJEU processes and purchasing through frameworks and collaborative arrangements.
You'll need to be highly organised and a strong multi-tasker, as well as being an articulate and persuasive communicator - someone who can influence and constructively challenge others, using your honed interpersonal and analytical skills.
Salary will be £37,000 - £42,500 per annum pro rata, depending on skills and experience. We offer a fantastic range of benefits including a broad range of Learning and Development opportunities, with access to the Civil Service training curriculum, generous annual leave entitlement for new starters, family friendly policies, a choice of competitive pensions and flexible benefits scheme.
