We are looking to add an experienced Manufacturing Procurement Manager to our fast-growing team. The post holder will be responsible for all manufacturing purchasing - approx £5million annual spend - as well as developing and maintaining our manufacturing supply chain. They will need to monitor stock levels, production forecasts and material lead-times to ensure we have appropriate order coverage on all manufacturing material. They will continue to work with suppliers to track order fulfilment to ensure that all required parts are delivered when they are needed and to identify any supply risks as early as possible. They will have an ongoing responsibility to ensure costs meet expectations while ensuring supply and quality are maintained. 

This is a new role that will take over some responsibilities from our Technical Director – a founder of the business – and will work under his supervision going forward, in consultation with our Manufacturing Manager and Commercial Director. Excellent communication skills, a high-level of personal organisation and attention to detail are all essential. A secondary aspect to the role will be supporting the Manufacturing Manager with the operations of the manufacturing department and deputising when appropriate. The position is suitable for a dynamic team player with prior experience of procurement for manufacturing within the electronics industry who is looking for a new challenge and an opportunity with a fast-growing UK-based manufacturer. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and further develop our manufacturing supply chain
  • Monitor stock levels, production forecasts and material lead-times to manage procurement
  • Ensure costs, delivery timescales and quality are all tightly controlled
  • Track order fulfilment, identify any supply risks and escalate them appropriately
  • Support the Manufacturing Manager to ensure the smooth running of the manufacturing department

Essential Qualifications

  • Significant experience (>3 years) of purchasing for manufacturing within the electronics industry 
  • Experience of managing supplier relationships, including contracts and negotiation
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English
  • Ability to cope with demanding deadlines and high pressure in a calm and organised manner
  • A methodical approach, a high level of organisation and a good eye for detail
  • Experience working within an ERP system such as Oracle NetSuite
  • Familiarity with MS Office – particularly Excel
  • A good team player who also has the ability to work independently under guidance

Desirable Extras 

  • A CIPS qualification (completed or in progress)
