Assistant Purchasing Manager (Produce)

Location: High Wycombe

Salary: Competitive 

Our global client currently have a new role to assist the Produce Purchasing Managers in the delivery of the strategic purchasing goals across Europe. You will assist in the delivery of agreed projects and deals across the range of produce in line with agreed global and local strategies.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a food or beverage company, preferably within a purchasing and supply chain environment. The role will involve working with European suppliers. Any additional language skills would be highly beneficial, German, Dutch French and Spanish are of particular interest but not essential. 

Principal responsibilities:

• Supplier cost and market data analysis to support category management and negotiation activities
• Ensuring compliance to purchasing process on products, pricing and contract management
• Working to bring last remaining areas of unmanaged spend under control
• Developing and maintaining category specific databases and tracking tools
• Take a lead on ensuring accuracy and timely update of product pricing and other master data

Qualifications, skills and knowledge: 

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Relevant purchasing qualifications desirable but not mandatory
• Experience working in a food or beverage (or equivalent) purchasing role
• Good stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience of international and cross-cultural working an advantage
• Strong analytical, commercial and negotiation skills
• Experience working in a service-oriented organization with demanding customers
