This international mechanical engineering company is creating a new global procurement department to be centrally managed from their HQ in the Netherlands with a second global HQ on Hong Kong Island. As part of the new department they are seeking a Project Purchasing Manager for one of their key purchasing areas of Electronics and Elector-Mechanics

This is a critical business spend that has yet to be managed at a global level and has significant opportunity for synergies, cost reduction and performance improvement. The aim of the global project purchasing manager is to provide oversight to the local purchasing teams across the world and begin to professionalise the approach to procurement with more strategic category management. You will be working across a wide range of product areas and be expect to deliver expertise across a range of commodity areas such as drives, relays, controls, wire-harnesses, PCBA and more.

As the Project Purchasing Manager for Electro-Mechanics & Electronics your will:

  • Establish a global category management strategy and global supplier base for key Electro-Mechanics & Electronics commodities
  • Work closely with project teams to deliver to specific requirements of NPD projects
  • Work closely with local purchasing teams to identify areas for improvement and global capability
  • Build relationships and commitment with stakeholders across the global business to drive new category strategy
  • Develop and implement a global supplier management and performance monitoring tool
  • Provide subject matter expertise on both commercial and technical aspects of highly technical projects regarding components such as drives, relays, controls, wire-harnesses, & PCBA's

As the Project Purchasing Manager you will require the following Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of Procurement and Commodity or Category Management of a wide range of electrical and electro-mechanical components
  • Previous experience working in a heavy production, engineering or similar industry
  • Ability to work in a transformational procurement environment with little processes and policies in place
  • Able to work as part of a global procurement team managing a virtual team of local purchasers
  • Degree qualified; preferably in Mechanical or Electronical Engineering or similar qualification
  • Other qualification in Procurement or Project Management also highly desirable
  • Must speak fluent English; other European languages highly desirable

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization in the process of setting up procurement from the ground up and reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer. You will be directly responsible for setting the strategy and direction of your category area to ensure maximum performance and profitability and long-term success of the procurement department.
