Strategic Procurement Manager for Rail - FTSE250 Group - Glasgow - £60,000 - £70,000 + Package

A widely renowned and respected FTSE250 major have recently attained a new client for a large rail project. As such they have created an exciting new position unique to the rail subsector of the business to help achieve long delivery in the form of a Strategic Procurement Manager for Rail.

Main responsibilities:

  • Take ownership over the rail category spend strategy carrying out next generation category management and taking the strategy further than simple supplier consolidation
  • Work with niche suppliers to ensure contracts are placed that allow the best value for the business whilst providing security to business against competitors
  • Utilise strong stakeholder engagement skills to build relationships internally across procurement and cross functionally with the wider business

Key Skills:

  • Extensive expertise in category management preferably within rail or other major transport projects/CAPEX/Construction related areas
  • Demonstrate an ability to engage and develop relationships with niche suppliers to ensure the utmost is gained from the relationship
  • Possess an inquisitive nature, looking beyond the obvious procurement solutions by identify details to ensure the best strategy is reached and executed
  • Degree qualified, preferably with MCIPS accreditation
