An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new role of Category Specialist within the Procurement Department.
East Sussex Fire Authority (ESFA) provides prevention, protection and response services to 812,514 people within the area of East Sussex and the City of Brighton & Hove, covering an area of 179,000 hectares.
ESFA are undertaking a transformation of our Procurement function. The recently approved Procurement Strategy aims to transform the way we procure within ESFA by moving to a centralised, coordinated, category approach. This will enable procurement activities undertaken within the Authority to align with our corporate business plans and the National Agenda for reform and standardisation. Key to the success of this transformation will the recruitment of a Category Specialist.
With a net annual spend of circa £10m on goods, services and works, across a range of categories, procurement and contract management are key to achieving efficiencies within the organisation. Delivering value for money and optimum management of limited resources, without compromising resilience, are paramount.
Assisting the Procurement Manager and working with the wider team, you will develop, implement and manage allocated category strategies, in partnership with the Authority's key commissioning departments.
Essential to the post, will be your ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with the key commissioning departments, using business benefit analysis to influence and create sourcing strategies for the respective category which create value, optimise performance, ensure compliance and maximise the impact of Procurement.
This will include analysing key areas of spend to provide a broad understanding of the supply market, the opportunities and the risks, to deliver the best commercial outcomes, and enable continuous efficiencies.
