The procurement support required in order to achieve this is diverse, stimulating and demanding. Procurement is a main contributor to the growth within UKAEA. 

Procurements are in a wide variety of different projects ranging from Robotics, Materials Testing, Facilities Management, Collaboration agreements with both Industry and Academia, Materials testing and research, Construction, Research & Development, tritium processing and fusion technologies. 

UKAEA are recruiting for two Procurement professionals to join our team at Culham.

We have two roles available. If you have a passion for delivering excellence in public sector procurement, are commercially focused, and inspired to be part of the development of UKAEA now is the time for an exciting opportunity. 

The role is particularly varied with some of your daily tasks ranging from managing the contractual progress of projects, assisting with creation through to implementation of procurement strategies for the site, providing commercial advice to line and senior management and ensuring compliance to Public Contract Regulations 2015. 

The Procurement team at UKAEA comprises of 22 individuals with a breadth of knowledge and skills, experience and time at UKAEA ranging from over 25 years to 6 months. The team is growing as fast as the organisation. We work in an open plan office, in a very friendly and welcoming environment. The team shares ideas on a daily basis. We work in collaboration with Department of Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS). We ensure that we comply with the European public procurement directives, UK law and UK government public procurement legislation. Within the team we operate a Procurement apprentice programme. UKAEA provides continued professional development, offering mentoring and coaching and ranges of short courses to improve knowledge and skills. There has never been a more exciting time in Procurement at UKAEA.

The UKAEA hosts and manages the JET nuclear fusion energy experiment on behalf of the EU and is also home to the UK`s MAST-U fusion energy experiment. UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience 

- MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification 
- A good technical appreciation of the range of procurement categories 
- Good procurement strategic knowledge and experience. 
- Excellent interpersonal skills 
- Ability to negotiate at the highest levels with suppliers 
- Commercially astute and customer focused 
- Excellent negotiation skills with some understanding of NEC form of Contract 
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to influence at senior levels 
- Be a good team player with ability to work effectively as part of the Group Procurement Team 

Special requirements:

Selection Method(s): 
- Telephone Interviews will be scheduled for 10th and 12th June. 
- Second stage Interviews will be scheduled for 17th and 19th June. 
- As part of the selection process you may be expected to complete work based simulation exercises and a personality profile either online or onsite.
