Are you looking for the next step up in your career in Procurement? We have a great opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional to join theFinance and Procurement Divisionof The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

The MHRA enhance and improve the health of millions of people every day through the effective regulation of medicines and medical devices, underpinned by science and research. The role of the Finance and Procurement Division is to support the Agency across its two sites in Canary Wharf and South Mimms, by managing approximately £70m of non-pay spend per year. 

The Procurement team consists of a transactional and management team which looks after our procure to pay systems and manages our procurement pipeline. The other half of Procurement, our Procurement Managers, are responsible for sourcing and contracting the Agency’s non-pay spend through the following categories:

  • Technology
  • Corporate
  • Facilities and Estates
  • Scientific

This position manages the “Corporate” procurement category across the Agency. The category includes: communications, consultancy, contingent labour, human resources, travel and publications among others.

In this important role, you will be responsible for service delivery and improvement, ensuring compliance and managing risk. You will be expected to meet customer requirements by demonstrating best value for money and achieving good return on investment by actively managing the market place through development of key strategies for supplier and contract management. You will maintain the organisation’s relationship with The Department of Health and Social Care and Crown Commercial Services and implement all relevant guidance as appropriate. 

You are likely to have a relevant Degree and/or MBA or a Diploma in Procurement and Supply from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (but may have equivalent experience). You will certainly have in-depth knowledge of the Public Contracts Regulations, Cabinet Office procurement policies and controls. You must also have excellent knowledge and understanding of core financial and procurement principles and procedures and experience of applying complex policies and guidance and managing high value purchases. You will have negotiation and contract management skills and will be familiar with Finance/Purchasing systems such as Oracle, Bravo or similar.
