A rare opportunity to make a real difference in a new role leading a small procurement team in a fast moving growth category within consumer products. This could suit ambitious procurement professionals with either supplier or retailer based buying careers to date.

Whilst long established, and already a category leading retail supplier within a major B2C market, Private Equity has recently purchased the business for its clear potential for further growth. With 90% of the product range imported, mainly from China, the achievement of world class procurement performance is one of the most significant corporate objectives moving forwards. The new Head of Procurement will report to the COO and take responsibility for £40m+ of purchasing (and rising) whilst directing and developing a small team located both in the UK and in China. The building of better structured relationships with key suppliers will be critical to success.

We seek an ambitious Procurement professional with a combination of immediate credibility, clear understanding of best practice processes (involving substantial budgets and multi SKU portfolios) and considerable successful experience in sourcing products from China and ideally other global low cost producers. Procurement experience in a broad range of products might be considered provided that the above essential criteria are met.

The company’s success rests largely on its market agility and customer focus which creates continual challenges for supply chain management through high levels of innovation and product churn. The Head of Procurement must be a strongly team oriented ‘can do’ manager, whilst at the same time able to lead at the strategic level on issues such as longer term sourcing strategy, risk management and  supplier development.

In addition to a competitive salary in a range up to £75,000 p.a. (dependent on experience) the benefits package will include a KPI based performance bonus ( up to 20% of salary), contributory pension and PHI.
