We supply 12% of the UK’s renewable energy supply, generating enough electricity to power over 6,000,000 homes. But there’s more. Once we were the UK’s largest coal fired power station, now we are a UK wide portfolio of flexible, low carbon, renewable energy generation business. Our sites span the length of the UK from our hydro power stations in Scotland, to our station in Selby that now uses sustainable sourced biomass to generate (and is the biggest single site renewable generator in the UK and the largest decarbonisation project in Europe!) to our rapid response gas power stations in the South of England, Drax is dedicated to enabling a zero carbon lower cost energy future.
And if renewable energy generation wasn’t enough for you, we’re also pioneering a world leading project to rollout carbon capture at a large scale, making Drax the world’s first negative emissions power station by the 2020’s.
Innovation, technology and agility are at the heart of everything we do.
We’re looking for a category manager to focus on the maintenance and engineering spend across the generation business, and with a station the size of 1000 professional football pitches that’s a decent size spend to manage. Your focus will be to take ownership of category strategies and spend solutions, develop relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, identify risks and opportunities, implementing and managing good strong commercial contracts as well as delivering real commercial value, lead on performance reviews and have a direct impact on our bottom line and contributing to the business’ success.
You’ll need to have previous experience working in a category management approach to procurement. You’ll have a strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to problem solving. You’ll be MCIPS level 6 qualified and have proven experience in process improvement, finding cost savings and detailed management of contracts.
You’ll also have a curious mindset, be ready for a change and want a career that makes a real difference.
