This is a fantastic opportunity for Commodity Buyers to join a global blue-chip automotive company whom promote a true partnership approach with their suppliers, you will receive fantastic training and development. We are currently recruiting for multiple Commodity Buyers to join their expanding team within different commodities. In this role you will be tasked with managing the component’s lifecycle and heavily involved in technical / engineering advancements to enhance your commodity area, this role is not segmented so giving you greater understanding of the markets, technologies and enhancing your commodity expertise.

You should have graduated from University with an Engineering degree and / or have a keen interest in automotive technologies and manufacturing best practice at the very least.

A minimum of 18 months experience within purchasing of automotive components whether in a project, commodity focused or similar role is essential. Your inquisitive nature in understanding how products and components are manufactured and engineered will stand you in good stead to develop quickly and efficiently within this position and company.

Main responsibilities for the successful Commodity Buyer will involve:

  • Purchasing parts and components for current and future products including high precision commodities
  • Managing supplier relationships to ensure optimum cost solutions for piece price and tooling through detailed cost analysis, on-going supplier relationships, negotiation and looking to enhance production processes
  • Ensuring appropriate sourcing and supplier selection
  • Managing all commercial issues relating to suppliers
  • Ownership of strategic development of commodities


  • Understanding of cost analysis and cost breakdown of components and production processes
  • Negotiation skills based on analysis reports and findings from suppliers and visualisation of product design
  • Energetic and driven individual with the flexibility to adjust to new cultures and work in a complex organisation
  • Either automotive industry experience or at least in a similar production background such as white goods or manufacturing production line
  • Excellent qualifications predominantly in Engineering or similar degrees
  • Strong and capable analysing skills
  • Effective stakeholder engagement
  • Fluent English


  • Engineering background is required to illustrate innovative ideas for cost reduction and modification whilst working closely with the R&D and engineering departments
  • Experience within global companies
