Main Function of the Role

Responsibility for sourcing products and services, and managing suppliers. Perform strategic procurement activities across all categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers, plus own brand.

Key Areas of responsibility

Strategy

  • Develop, lead and roll out purchasing and supply strategies
  • Implement and report on KPI’s to reduce costs (purchase price, logistics cost – transport and storage, processing cost) and improve effectiveness / efficiency
  • Implement negotiation strategies and close deals with improved and optimised terms
  • Identify product and suppliers where own brand would improve our market position and profitability
  • Identify new and complimentary products to ensure our range is futureproofed

Purchasing / Stock / Logistics

  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and adjust stock and order quantities accordingly.  Determine quantity and timing of deliveries from suppliers to suit branch operations
  • Work closely with branches to ensure all system stock and supplier parameters are up to date to ensure we fulfil customer demand, and accurately measure real profit
  • Oversee annual and interim stock takes

Suppliers and Products

  • Manage supplier relationships and lead supplier review meetings
  • Seek and partner with future reliable suppliers
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify opportunities and threats for our operations
  • Perform supplier cost analysis and benchmarking to improve terms
  • Assess, manage and mitigate all risks associated with Suppliers and our supply chain

Requirements

  • Proven working experience and results as a procurement manager
  • Interest in market dynamics to support business development
  • Ability in negotiation and networking
  • Ability to gather and analyse data and work with figures to identify changes in market
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Desire to travel in order to identify and source new products / suppliers
