As a result of a recent reorganisation the Procurement Services Team, part of our Finance Department, is seeking a self-motivated and highly organised individual to carry out a range of procurement and contract activities.
The procurement services team are responsible for circa GBP 116million non-pay expenditure across the University. This post will contribute to making the procurement team integral in being a strategic function across the University and to deliver Value for Money outcomes for both capital and revenue expenditure.
You could be responsible for a wide range of procurement activities including but not limited to IT software and hardware, equipment including AV, hard and soft FM and Estates, HR services and student support and recruitment services. This will include interpretation of technical specifications, management of stakeholders, management of the various types of contacts and tenders including the use of our electronic tender platform, and contract/supplier management. The role requires meticulous record-keeping and attention to detail, and a broad understanding of public sector sourcing arrangements.
The successful candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply. With experience in complex procurements and problem solving, you will be decisive, focused on priorities and goal driven. You will develop strong strategic relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders to maximise opportunities to collaborate, achieve efficiencies, improve capability and promote the procurement profession.
Experience of managing OJEU and non OJEU tender processes and of sourcing products and services, and achieving value for money is essential, as is experience in contract negotiation. Previous experience of providing procurement training to a range of stakeholders would be an advantage.
You will work as part of a small team, being responsible for some line management and development of team members, as well as close working with other teams within Finance to further develop policies and procedures.
This post is available on a job share basis for applicants wishing to work part time.

In 2018 we were placed in the Guardian's Top 40 Universities in the UK and we achieved TEF Gold status.

A city with a buzzing music scene, great restaurants and interesting business ventures. It's not surprising Bristol is consistently named as one of the best places to live and work in the UK.
