Head of Procurement
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council
Head of Procurement
Up to £75K
This is an exciting opportunity to provide the strategic leadership for our award-winning Corporate Procurement Service. We are looking for a suitably experienced procurement professional, dedicated to improving the lives of our local community through wise use of procurement power and innovative interpretation of public sector procurement regulation and policy to facilitate service delivery.
The Corporate Procurement Service is fully supported by both Members and the Corporate Leadership Team as procurement is seen as a key management process for effective services.
You will be a member of the Resources Directorate Leadership Team and working with colleagues in Finance, Legal, Commissioning and Technical, will advise on the procurement aspects of major projects across the council. This will require a good working knowledge of alternative delivery models and an ability to recommend the most suitable procurement route to market.
Our recently revised Social Value Policy will give you the opportunity to consider the added value that can be achieved through the inclusion of economic, environmental and social considerations when contracting.
Solihull has a policy of “growing our own” category managers and you will be supported to deliver the Procurement Strategy by a friendly and experienced team.
Voted one of the best places to live in the UK, there is a lot to offer in Solihull. With a great standard of living plus plenty of social, entertainment and transport options, you’ll have plenty of scope to enjoy our vibrant town.
