The CMA is the UK's primary competition and consumer authority, making markets work well in the interests of consumers, businesses and the economy. With increasing and accelerating changes to the world in which we operate, the coming few years will be ones of opportunity and transformation as we aim to consistently be one of the leading competition and consumer agencies in the world. To achieve our aims it is vital that we have the capability to ensure best value for money across our commercial arrangements.

As the Director of Commercial and Contract Management and a member of the Senior Leadership and Senior Management teams, you will lead, develop and manage the commercial team to drive best value across the organisation, with contracts ranging from £10,000 to over £4million in value. Using your knowledge of the marketplace you will manage our commercial portfolio in innovative ways, including leading complex change programmes and use of joint ventures, outsourcing or best-in class contracting approaches.

Your leadership will not only develop the talents of the Commercial team at the CMA, but will ensure maximum savings and benefits are delivered to the organisation, which in turn will benefit the wider UK economy.

To be considered for this key role you must be able to evidence a proven track record in a senior commercial role with experience of all forms of contracting and supplier relationship management. Equally important will be your substantial experience providing strong and inspirational leadership to building and developing teams to deliver results, recognising outstanding performance and dealing effectively with under performance.

If you have the ability to manage complex negotiations and resolve complex and contentious contract management issues whilst delivering major organisational change, we would like to hear from you.

In return the CMA is a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so.

We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee well-being programme and favourable consideration of flexible working.
